Monday - A big thank you to Luke and the team at Reckless Bike Stores 721 Yates St Victoria BC. The bikes are now working great. While they were in the store we walked around Victoria and looked at the Music Conservatorium - The old Methodist Church. That night we went to look at the Parliment Buildings all lit up.
Tuesday - Back up to Sidney via The Buchart Gardens - They were supurb. Not to be missed. The ride up the Island was on the Lochside Trail. One of the great bike trails in the area.
Wednesday - and we hit the USA bar a small hitch at border control when all the computers went down nation wide. But we made the ferry. Off and rode on to Desception Pass - an amazing bridge and great State Park. Hot showers and Hiker-Biker sites.
Thursday - we continued down Whidbey Island Looked at Fort Casey and on to another ferry to Old Fort Townsend and down to Dosewallips State Park. That ride gave us a 5+ Km downhilll on Mt Walker without peddling. Must have gone up the other side first.
Friday - Followed the Hood Canal through Lilliwaup to Lake Sylvia Park - a huge 83 mile day. The climb from Montesano to the park was a great end to the day NOT.
Saturday - We headed for the coast - Twin Harbors State Park - on the way in we watched pelicans circling and landing in the harbour. A relitively flat ride. Wandered up to the harbour and looked at the fishing town of Westport. Went to look at the Tallest lighthouse in Washington.
Sunday - The Washington FOG. Rode down the coast till the fog broke at about 10ish. Went through Raymond with fantastic sculptures beside the road. Arrived at Bush Pioneer Camp at 1.30 with the mist coming off the sea and already in the trees. An afternoon of drying clothes in the sun and free hot showers and Glenn securing the position of Washington State Crib champion. Had our first camp fire.
Monday - a misty day most of the day but a good ride to Cape Disappointment State Park. Not a Dissapointment. Walked to the lighthouse - a 4 mile round trip - different muscles. Saw lots of grass snakes and hundreds of little tan/orange bush frogs. Back to look through the Lewis & Clarke Interpritive Centre - great and interesting.
Tuesday - Today - we crossed into Oregon and are in Astoria writing this. This morning we went through a pretty coastal town of Chinook then a tunnel then the Astoria Bridge over the Columbia River. 4 1/2 miles long.
